 The Importance of Soil PH

Bodear Soil PH Soil Meter

The subject of soil ph is so vast and beyond the scope of this review but what we will be doing is touching on a few basics of this subject and seeing how it applies to plant life and gardening successfully.

Soil ph is measured on a scale from 1 to 14. Numbers that are below 14 lets us know that our garden soil is Acidic while Numbers above 14 lets us know that our soil is Alkaline. A ph of 7 says that our garden soil is Neutral.

This is important to remember when planning to install a garden. It is good to get a soil lab test done or you can use this pretty cool soil 3-in 1 ph test meter. Some plants love acidic soil, while others love alkaline soils and still there are others that prefer a more neutral soil.

Nature knows best

Have you ever went on a nature walk if not I encourage you to give this a try, great exercise activity as you take in all nature has to offer this is also a good stress reliever, now what does this have to do with the subject at hand? I am glad that you asked. What you will notice is, plants that are growing in the wild or nature seem to be nice and healthy without any human effort, This is so amazing

Yet when we bring plants into our garden or landscape which of course is a controlled environment, in a lot of cases these plants that did so well in the wild once brought in the landscape begin to decline.

Nature has the key of adjusting the soil ph to meet those plant’s requirements. I learned a very valuable lesson many years ago when being employed at a five-star hotel as a landscape tech

and that never removes all of the leaves from around the base of your plants which falls to the soil surface. you can remove some to give that nice clean look but removing all of those leaves will rob those plants of nutrient uptake from those leaves as they decompose along with robbing the plant of its ph level being adjusted.

Now I am not saying that we should trash products out there that can help make life easier for us and our plants but what I am saying is natural organic helps and can go a long way in ensuring our plant’s overall health.

I love plants, and just started a garden a few years ago. I have had a lot of problems getting things to grow in certain areas of our property, and haven’t been able to figure out why. I had no idea they made these fun little devices that check your soil! I feel silly that I didn’t know, but no that I do, I really need to get one! Thank you Nrichards!

I moved to countryside about three years ago. I do not want to say that neither I nor my wife knew anything about gardening. We started growing vegetables and other gardening activities are still in progress. I would lie if I say that everything has succeeded and succeeds now and sometimes it can blame the quality of the soil in case of the failure.
Soil PH Meter definitely can help to reduce the number of unprocessed plants. Thanks for the review.

Wow. This is interesting. It is good to have this equipment especially when you have a garden at the back of your house. Most of our soils have different kinds of acids that might be detrimental to the fruits we are growing. It is very important to check the soil and if things are not right, you can find a way to treat the soil. The equipment is portable and good for the price.

Your website is in good conditon. It flows from page to page and it has good color that represents your neiche. the only thing that I can see is that it does seem a bit long winded. I dont know much about any of your products but you may want to make a shorter version and then offer more reading .

    1. Norman says:

Hello, thanks a million for your advice. Wishing you the best of success.

Thank you for this very informative post! I have several types of plants that no matter where I plant them or how I try to fix the soil, I just cannot have success with them. Now I think I know why…it is because I do not understand what they really want from soil!

This PH meter seems like it might help me to be able to grow the kind of plants that I want, like a clematis. Thank you again!
