Product: Felco F-2 Classic Manuel Hand Pruner

Hand pruners my experience

I have worked with these tools over the years on many garden projects and to be honest with you these are great tools to have as a part of your garden accessories.

But be very careful because the blades on these tools are very sharp especially when new and can really cause injury if it comes in contact with body parts, hence was my experience when I was employed many years ago at a five-star resort.

I was working on a garden project and was trimming back some white fountain grass, but what I did not realise was how I was holding the grass, one of my fingers got caught in the blades mouth

and all I saw not to give you the creeps was nothing but red, and you guess right it was my blood. I had accidentally cut my finger open and had to be rushed to the nurse’s office for immediate medical attention. Man was that a day, would not want to have that awful experience again. So be very careful when working with these pruners.

In this review, we will be looking at Falcon f-2 manual classic pruner

In my opinion, this pruner is a beauty that is well constructed to give you all the comfort that you need while performing those garden projects. It gives you that quick clean cut

But a word of caution do not try to cut branches thicker than what the blade was met to cut because misuse in this way can damage blade to the point where it will not be of good use anymore.

The handle is constructed in such a way that it really accommodates your fingers in gripping and applying the right amount of pressure. This pruner is so comfortable

that it is easy on your fingers and wrist, giving you all the comfort that you need in handling that garden project, no sweat

Maintenance of pruner

Pruner can be kept well maintained  by wiping off plant sap with a small amount of gas on a piece of clean cloth or you can use the rubbing alcohol which is even better because it not only cleans the blade but can sterilize it from

any disease that it may have come in contact while performing pruning procedures. Or if you prefer you can sterilize with bleach. Spraying WD40 on pruners blade is great to keep your pruner lubricated.

Also using a file to keep blades sharp is great because after performing so many pruning operations will cause the blade to become dull. These simple products will keep your pruner in good shape

Recently my husband bought these for me and my gardening. I really enjoy using them. They fit well in my hand and cut well. They are extremely sharp as you mentioned and I too almost cut my finger off not paying attention when using them and they are so sharp I didn’t even notice till I saw blood. However they get the job done and done well while staying sharp. I too would recommend them just be careful.

    Hi Norman

I am looking for a proper pruner and glad I have found your review as this one seems to be the perfect one. I like the reasonable price and as you say the sharpness and quality of this product. It has really good customer rating on Amazon and positive reviews, as well. Could you PLS advise if this hand pruner is suitable for left-handed people?

    1. Norman says:

Hello, Arta so nice to meet you this pruner really can get the job done and make gardening easier. This pruner is universal and can be used by anyone. It is just a matter of holding it in a way where you feel comfortable and then using it.

Just be very careful when using these pruners because they are very sharp and can cause serious injury. Hope this helps and please let me know how it goes. have a wonderful day.

    Hi Norman,

Sorry, for what happened to you with the manual hand pruner. It must really hurt.
I use this tool often in my garden, but I put gloves on to protect my fingers:) However, I left my manual hand pruner outside, and he got rusted because of the rain. I can hardly open it and, of course, I need a new one:)
The Felco F 2 seems to be of high quality. Are there other similar manual hand pruners to do some comparisons? That would be very useful!
Thank you for this excellent post.

    1. Norman says:

Hello Daniella my good friend how are you doing hope all is well and I am sorry to hear about your pruner getting rusted because of the rain. Besides the Felco F-2 Pruner, you can also take a look at Gonicc 8″ Professional sk-5 steel blade sharp anvil pruning shears,  Haus and garten titanium pruning shears, Garden power drive ratchet pruning shears and Hig extra hardness extra sharp garden hand pruner. You can also find these on Amazon.

These are just a few that you can take a look at. Please let me know how it goes, hope this helps and have a good day.

    Hi Norman!

These pruners just might be the answer to a problem I’ve had in the garden. My pruners get a lot of abuse and I have been considering upgrading to a more professional model.

These pruners look like they might be a ratcheting pruner, can you verify this?

The cheap pruners I have been buying have to be replaced quite frequently because they just don’t hold up to the job. Perhaps I will get better use out of a great product like this.

Thanks for the great article on the Felco F-2 Classic manual hand pruner!

    1. Norman says:

Hello, Tom so nice to meet you and thanks for commenting, As far as I know even though the Felco F-2 Pruner has some resemblance of a ratchet pruner it is not. I hope this helps. All the best to you my friend and please let me know how it goes. Have a good day.

Thanks for sharing this great information, I never realised that it was so important to have the right type of pruner for the sort of job you intend to carry on, until not very long ago, my wife decided to prune a few difficult branches and only managed to twist her wrist. We blamed the pruner for being blunt and decided to look online for a new pruner. That’s when we discovered that our pruner was not at fault at all, but that we were using the wrong sort of pruner for the job. I am reading your review on the Falco f-2 manual classic pruner, can you tell me if it is available in France?

    1. Norman says:

Hello, John so nice to meet you. And you are right there are different pruning tools for different size tree branches. You can buy this tool on Amazon, according to what I know Amazon do ship to France. Just click on this link and purchase.http://gardenofedengardencente

Thanks again, all the best to you and have a good day. Please let me know how it goes.

  6. John Wayne Raleigh says:

I am an avid gardener of tomatoes and red peppers, and I have a very stubborn rose bush that is growing out of proportion in my front yard. She needs pruning very soon. How well do they work on roses? And how well do they work on shrubs. As you can readily tell, I haven’t done much yard work so far this year.
I am appreciative of the cleaning and maintenance techniques you have given, such as cleaning with alcohol and lubricating with WD40.
Since I am not an expert on pruners, I am curious to find out if the asking price of $52.23 is a good value?
