Using Trees in the Landscapes and Gardens

Tree Uses And Benefits-a-tree
Sparrow in a tree

It is very interesting to know how trees have served us from the days of our ancestors. Trees have always and are still benefiting us in so many ways and the truth of the matter is humans are depending on trees to survive.

But sadly over the years trees including some forest have been totally destroyed to make way for buildings and other projects. But what we need to understand is trees help bring balance to the environment.

I believe one reason why our planet is becoming unstable is that of the destruction of trees.

Tree Uses

Trees have been used and are still being used for fuel, to make houses, furniture,  helps to sustain wildlife, etc…. as we cut down trees for our use we should at least plant two so as they grow and mature they will bring stability to our environment.

Can you imagine planet earth being depleted of trees, I know I Can’t. But what are some of the other benefits of trees?

Benefits of trees

1. Trees help to break wind speed, in some cases winds from storms.

2. Trees help to filter and purify the air that we breathe.

3. Large trees can keep your home cool. An example of this is an apartment I lived in many years ago that had a big tree in the backyard that was spread over a portion of my bedroom. But what was so amazing was the front part of my apartment was extremely hot during the summer months but when I walked into my bedroom it was so cool. This was going on for weeks as far as I could remember and then I realized, the front of my apartment was hot because it had no shade from the tree which caused the temperature to be different. So having a few large trees that shade your home doing extremely hot weather can keep your home which can save you money on that electric bill by not Turing on the fan or air condition.

4. Trees save water. Planting grass and landscape plant under partially shaded trees can conserve water for your plants.

5. Nicely grooms trees can increase the value of your landscape.

6. Trees help to prevent soil erosion by holding soil in place and slowing water runoff.

7. Trees can protect from ultraviolet rays, just by stepping out of the sun and under a cool shaded tree

8. Heavy dense trees can protect from rainfall.

9. Some trees produce foods like apple trees, orange trees, etc…

10. Trees provide a home for wildlife

11. Trees provide jobs. lumber companies and woodcarvers make a living by working with wood.

12. Clusters of trees can reduce sound and noise.

13. Trees can be used to screen unattractive areas.

The final word

So we have learned the many uses of trees, let’s do our part to plant a tree and help bring balance to our environment.

  1. It’s disheartening to see how many trees and beautiful forests are being obliterated to make room for civilization 🙁 I think we’re paying for it to with a decrease in air quality and a lack of beauty and nature around us. In some of the busier cities you don’t get to enjoy the trees at all 🙁 It’s sad and I wish there was something we could do about it to make it different before our kids grow up and don’t know what it was like and how beneficial and important trees are to all of us!

    • Hello it is so good to meet you and yes it is sad, I guess one day people will wake up and see know important trees are to us. The most we can do is continue to educate and hope persons follow. Thanks again, all the best to you and have a good day.

  2. I love trees and what a gorgeous picture! I agree with everything you said. Its sad that so many trees and forests are being destroyed….not only taking away the beauty but also the homes for many animals that live in that particular habitat. I use them for a lot of the ways you have listed, mostly shade, less watering because of them, to hide areas like my pool equipment, and more.

    • Yes trees do work wonders and they serve so many purpose. It is good see and hearing from you again, and as always, all the best to you and a good day.

  3. Hi there, thanks for your interesting and factual article. Now I can prove to my brother that I was right all along, so thanks!

Trees are the shelter of monkeys and other animals.
People should stop destroying forest. How I wish they wake up with the truth knowing that trees are very helpful to us also to animals. I hope everyone can read your genuine article.

  5. Oh I am so glad to hear someone else that believes cutting down all our forests are causing so many problems for Earth. I love the information that you have provided about the importance and usage of trees. The pictures are beautiful. It is so sad that many animals are moving closer to and in major cities trying to find a place to live because their homes are being destroyed. I hope that something is done to prevent the destruction of more forests.

    • Hello Nancy It is so good to meet you and I am happy that we both share the same views. I believe that a great solution that can help is for persons to start planting trees. So every tree you cut down plant atleast 2 that way we can stay ahead of the game and in years to come these trees will reach maturity. All the best to you and have a good day.

  6. Man it pains me that we are losing trees way faster than we are planting them. I had no idea trees had so many benefits. Trees have so many great qualities, its a shame that we don’t value them like we value other things. What are your thoughts on how we treat our trees?

    • Hi it is so good to meet you, trees do serve us well and we should do our best to save them where we can along with planting more of them because they bring balance. I am so glad that I could help. All the best to you and have a good day.

  7. You are so right about trees. Trees are life and the planet might not survive without them. I have always been very fond of trees and I notice them daily when I’m out and about. My oldest son’s first word was “tree” and I always thought that was really adorable. 🙂

    • Hello Shannon I am glad that both you and I are on the same page when it comes to the importance of trees, and even your baby is smarter than some when it comes to the benefit of trees lol. Lets hope more persons would see thes benefit and do their part in protecting and planting more trees. I am glad that we connect, all the best to you my dare lady.

  8. Thank you for this
I love trees and when purchasing a new home that is alway on the top of my list of must haves. I was born and raised on a dairy farm, my parents were from the Netherlands where every tree is pretty much cataloged due to their scarcity. When they moved to Canada and saw the vast amount of trees in our area, they made sure to buy a farm that had lots of trees. We had a farm that was covered by at least 30% of trees and we planted even more over the years. Even though we were a dairy farm and needed land to grow crops, my parents knew the importance and benefits of having trees. We managed to grow healthy crops to feed our cattle even with the trees. Too many farmers cut them away because it makes it harder for their huge equipment to drive around.
I’m with you, let’s all do our part and plant a tree this year…heck plant 2,3,400 or more trees if you can. We can help Earth become healthy again.

    • Hello Paul so nice to see you again and thanks for sharing a part of your life story, it sounds very awesome. I am happy to know that their are others out there that has the seem views of trees like I do. All the best to you my friend and have good night.

  9. My mom always told me, an apple a day keeps the doctor away! Does apple pie count too? I wish! Thank you for this very interesting post, I had no idea apples were from the rose family and crazy how it takes so many to make just a little bit of apple cider. My family drinks the cider every Christmas but its okay to drink it year round too, right? I like them even more now 🙂

    • Hello Misty so good to meet you, apples sure do benefits the body. Apple pie is great for a desert but eating them as they are counts more. And yes it is ok as far as I know to drink apple cider year round, just drink it in moderation. All the best to you.

  10. I love how you describe all of the ways that trees benefit everyone. I think if you tear down a tree you should always plant one in its place. So many tree’s being knocked down for no good reason! What tree do you suggest planting if someone wanted to plant a tree or two around their house?

    • Hello my friend thanks for stopping by, trees are of great benefit and help to us therefore we should save as much as possible. Their are so many that you can plant, palms, flowering, ever greens and the list goes on. Thanks for visiting all the best to you.
